Not without controversy, to say the least. L. Ron Hubbard's CLEAR BODY CLEAR MIND was first issued in 1990 and reissued in 2013. The book's subtitle is "The Effective Purification Program." This program, designed by Hubbard, purports to cleanse the body of toxins and other impurities. Hard on the heels of both the 1990 and the 2013 publications, the medical profession collectively honed its talons and clawed viciously at almost every precept that Hubbard articulated. "Dangerous" and "sometimes lethal" are only two of the damning comments inflicted upon CLEAR BODY CLEAR MIND. Hubbard, of course, was the founder of the Church of Scientology. And according to the Church "Tens of thousands of people from around the world have experienced life-changing results from the Purification Program." Hubbard himself could attest to that having been sued by families who claimed The Program was responsible for the death of a relative. That perhaps remains to be determined. The final judgment on Hubbard and his detox program might well be left to the readers of CLEAR BODY CLEAR MIND.
