This book was a required reading in my graduate-level HCA class. As someone who works at a senior level in healthcare, I found this book to be incredibly helpful to supplement my knowledge of the workplace. The authors Fried & Fottler include examples that you could swear happen at your own organization, and it was interesting to analyze my own experiences in work. This was especially beneficial for the times where I felt burned out by work, but could not figure out what the issue was. I also want to get a hard copy of this book for my own records. It has a lot of information about working with others in the workplace that those looking to manage should definitely read it -- throughout my years of working in healthcare, I haven't found an organization or manager that has really done a fantastic job of doing HR, especially when it comes to retention and performance management. Healthcare organizations have been especially bad with planning. There is a lot that can be improved upon in the healthcare industry if leadership really paid attention to the HR side of the equation, as the humans are the cornerstone of the organization!
