Chrysler Power was developed by Roland Osborne. He had led the development of the National Hemi Owners Association in 1975 and helped run the organization. He left in 1984 and started this title. Mr. Osborne ran his CPO Publishing organization from Azuza, California, and Jim Radke was the first editor.

Chrysler Power promoted new development of performance parts, and it provided information and technical how-to on Mopar restoration, tuning and performance. At the time, it was the first Mopar only enthusiast publication. Within a few years there were more competitors including Mopar Muscle, Mopar Action, and High Performance Mopar. Future editors like Dave Freiberger and Steve Magnante did some of their first stories with Chrysler Power. Many readers considered it, hands down, one of the best Chrysler titles ever!

Mr. Osborne faced a personal tragedy, and he stopped publishing in November, 1998. He came back with a series of "one-shot" magazines and later re-launched the title in 2011.
