Car Speed and Style was a small format, East Coast magazine owned by Irwin Stein and published by Magnum Publications. The publishing address was 11 West 42nd St, New York, NY.

Car Speed and Style was printed from December, 1957 through July, 1961. It was then re-titled as Speed and Custom in 1961.

Irwin Stein was well known as a New York publisher and owner of Lancer Books. He published many genres, but was best known for science fiction, detective and heroic fantasies. Stein's first hot rod magazine editor was Larry T. Shaw, famous as a science fiction writer.

Speed and Custom was the follow-on title to Car Speed and Style. It was published by Irwin Stein and Magnum Publications in New York from August, 1961 to August, 1966.

The magazine started as a monthly issue, but in February, 1963 it switched to every other month. It also started as a small-sized format, but in June, 1963 it used a larger print format. Content was initially focused on rods and customs, included "how to" features, and occasionally highlighted a drag racing vehicle or topic. Over the next few years, articles featured factory performance vehicles and road tests. In October, 1966, it was re-titled as Speed and Supercar.

Speed and Supercar magazine was the new name chosen when Speed and Custom was re-titled. It was published every other month and had a shift in content from hot rods and customs to Detroit muscle cars and drag racing. Content included how-to articles, road-tests for new muscle cars and the latest in racing and performance technology.

Walter Zacharius became a co-publisher with Irwin Stein in 1967, and the publishing company name became Magnum-Royal Publications. In 1973, Mr. Zacharius became the sole publisher.
