Forged together in a nuclear accident, Professor Martin Stein and student Ronnie Raymond were both present in the superhero Firestorm.
The comic books started in June 1982. The Fury of Firestorm ran for 64 issues. The series was renamed Firestorm, the Nuclear Man at #65 (Nov. 1987). Starting with issue #84 the indicia drops the comma, becoming Firestorm the Nuclear Man until issue #93 when it becomes simply Firestorm until its cancellation at issue #100 (Aug. 1990).
Writer John Ostrander took the reigns of the title, he moved forward from much of what had occurred in the previous issues. Ostrander introduced characters such as Mikhail Arkadin and focused on Firestorm's role as a fire elemental.
