These People Are Us Book

Not quite as entertaining overall as his most-recent effort, but this collection nevertheless contains some really good short stories that in some ways foreshadows his later work. Several I liked very much, while a few others left me flat, but that is okay. But his frequent concentration on damaged individuals dealing with relationships is his strongest, and often funniest, angle. I wonder at times if Singleton perhaps struggled with drink. But I loved that so many of the stories focus on the truly weird people who inhabit my home state, South Carolina.
