The performance of gender Book

I picked this one primarily for the humour that should be involving the topic as its title says. However, as much good as it was, its amount was lesser than what I felt should have been.

My secondary reason was to find out what the (then) 30-year Jerry Pinto wants to say about women. However, in this book, he speaks only about the much stereotyped Modern Indian Women, to an extent of which I would agree only up to a certain degree.

Things that came into my mind, that have not been taken into consideration: how women with wisdom and understanding can turn the relationship into a workable one; how love between the two can turn the table around; how self-awareness of a unique self could matter; unconventional (and independent) women thinkers. The book is also written by Mr. Pinto while being in his late twenties, which also reflects, in a way, how and what a typical Indian Confused Male of that age usually tends to think. In the book, the author also interviews men of different ages, which shows the maturity levels (or levels of immaturity, rather ?!? haha!) of some Indian men.

Some advises in the book, for men to use towards women, can be certainly used at times, but which I feel are only applicable towards a stereotypical woman. Women can use this book to understand a Typical Indian Man's perceptions of Indian Women (or maybe just women in general ... haha ... how stereotypical !! :P). As much as the positive side of this goes, a large part of it contains interviewed texts of other men, and the author's witty, straightforward flow of his language.

Overall, a good attempt, but fails at a few places, mainly because it tries to generalize the Indian Woman.
