The Passion of Reverend Nash
I found this book on the Library shelf as I was looking for the brand-new title by Rachel Basch. in 2003 Christian Science Monitor recommended it as one of their 10 best books of the year. It was interesting ..characters were well developed..some interesting theological positions..in 2003 would a female Congregational pastor been dismissed from her Church because she was being divorced? The other interesting segment of the story was the suicide of a young congregant who had been counseled by Pastor Nash for some months before she took her own life. Do the rules of confidentiality apply to pastoral counseling as they do to psychiatric counseling/therapy? Could the family actually have sued Pastor Nash for not telling them that she had recommended psychiatric help for the victim? Guess the question really is would they have won such a suit.. One of my favorite poems by Jane Kenyon featured in the story..I read this in almost one sitting but really would not call it an I-Can't Put-it-Down-book. Probably would have some merit as a Church Book Club selection..
