The Neoconservative Revolution: Jewish Intellectuals and the Shaping of Public Policy
A dense and informative survey of attitudes toward Jews, and Jewish responses to life in Germany during the Weimar years. Definitely worth reading if you have an interest in anti-semitism, Jewish life between the World Wars or German culture in general. As I said, it's very informative, but not big on narrative; it reads much more as an academic study (which is what it is, I suppose). I appreciated how Niewyk ended each chapter with some perspective to help clarify the divergent ideas and attitudes described therein.
One odd feature: late in the book, the chapter on the right-wing "Jewish Chauvinists" evinces a confusing change in voice. The judgmental descriptions of other Jewish factions is clearly from the perspective, not of the author, but of the "Naumannite." It was an off-putting interlude.
