The Enemy I Knew: German Jews in the Allied Military in World War II Book

The book "The Enemy I knew" by Steve Karras, contains many stories of individuals who fought in World War II. The interesting part about the people who experienced the war are actually Jewish. So this book is about how the Jewish fought back after they were treated poorly by the Nazis. These people were assigned to different ranks, so it gives many points of views on how the war was. The story that stood out to me was Adelyn Bonin's story. She was part of the 502 Mechanized Ambulance Corps Auxiliary Territorial Service. She was the driver that would not only sit behind the wheel but make the injured soldiers feel comfortable. The way she helped grab a lot of attention that when they started picking up a soldier; he said "Ah, 502. Thank goodness" (49). The soldier shows how everyone knows about her service to the military, hoping to be rescued by her team. This book explains the lives of many soldiers clearing more the answer to the question in what World War II was like. The author explained the stories rather than quoting it. I recommend this book to the audience who are interested in war history and the people who would like to read about how the Jewish people fought back.
