1859. Prime, a New York City lawyer, and his wife Mary Trumbull Prime were keen collectors of art and traveled extensively in pursuit of items for their collections. He wrote accounts of their travels in such works as Owl Creek Letters and The Old House by the River. Their travels to Africa and West Asia are recounted in Tent Life in the Holy Land and Boat Life in Egypt and Nubia.
