Praying with Saint Paul Using Lectio Divina: Acts of the Apostles Book

Stephen Neill was correct when he argued in The Interpretation of the New Testament: 1861-1986 that Baur should only be read for historical interest. The German scholar was a brilliant man but one who naively believed it was possible to approach the Bible objectively as a critical historian without presuppositions. His argument that two factions existed in tension within early Christianity--the Pauline (Hellenistic) camp and the Peter Camp (more traditionally Jewish). His "hypothesis" (he saw it as unassailable) has now been all but abandoned by even the most liberal critics. I will give credit where credit is due, Baur was a gifted writer (verbose) but clear. My own presupposition is that a clear thinker will be a clear writer (sorry Kant!).
