In Struggle against Jim Crow: Lulu B. White and the NAACP, 1900-1957
Malindy Freedom is a good read. Maybe, I should not be writing this review because I am coauthor of this book which took 6 years to write with extensive research. It is the oral history passed down by my grandmother to my sister, Mildred Johnson, who passed it to me, Theresa Delsoin. The book covers the issue of slavery in the country. The genre is literary nonfiction. The book is a testimony to the strength and resiliency of an enslaved family who not only survived, but thrived under the peculiar institution of slavery. The book serves as a clarion for healing, reconciliation as the authors voice forgiveness for the slave owners who owed their ancestors.
