This addition to the acclaimed We Are Still Here series introduces Matthew Dunn, a 12-year-old boy who lives in Saskatchewan and Alberta, Canada. Because his parents are divorced, Matthew alternates spending one year with each of them. This summer his mother, who is Metis Indian, has decided to take Matthew to Fort Chipewyan, an old settlement in northeastern Alberta, so he can learn more about his Native heritage. There, Matthew learns about some of the traditional Metis, Dene, and Chipewyan Indian crafts, activities, and foods.

Twelve-year-old Matthew Dunn learns about the traditional ways of his Chipewyan, Cree, and Mâetis ancestors on a trip to Fort Chipewyan, in Alberta, Canada.
