Paints a vivid picture of the music schooling tradition in North India - replete with opportunistic, status-conscious morons, the gossip-mongering aunties, the naive students who fumble on their claim to fame, and self-righteous characters who lose their way in the dense play of events. The stark reality that money and socio-economic status are the king makers in the Indian society are portrayed most effectively - the same life-altering scenarios that two young girls are faced with culminate in vastly different endings for each of them, merely because of their socio-economic status. Slightly slow paced, but interesting read !
