An interesting and well-written overview of Counter-Reformation/Confessional Catholic/Catholic Reformation/Early Modern Catholicism for the professional historian. O'Malley has created the easiest-to-read historiographic work I've read yet, and he does a great job at explaining the context of each term, its most prominent proponents, and the pros and cons of the category. It's raised some interesting questions for my RAship this summer, along with my own work in the Reformation proper.
