I have to say this is a very high quality research book on women's studies in Buddhism. Through comprehensive as well as solid top-notch research, Kath convincingly argued for the female authorship of the Therigartha, and the male's inability to impersonize a woman. Therefore, the liberation as understood by woman could not be represented by man's view alone. A reconstruction of Buddhism which incorporate women, men and intersexuals as well as homosexuals is not necessary but also crucial to the survival of Buddha's teaching. Men's view alone maybe accurate from their own view point, it could never be complete and could never be the only voice, the golden standard. A diversity of views is not complementary to the men's standard view, diversity of views points is mandated if one were to gain full liberation. It is not for women's sake that we propose a reconstruction, it is for the whole humanity's sake that we need to correct the biased Buddhism cannon as maintained by a male-dominant culture.
