A Family Tail Book

2.5 stars rounded up because it's probably better than that, but it's just not my thing. It started out well, with two boys connecting over the lack of mothers (one had disappeared, the other in a coma after an accident). After half of it I was enjoying (with a few caveats), but then it went deep into a fantasy under-the-sea/worship-of-a-stuffed iguana world which left me a bit cold really (appropriately as it's set in the Gulf of St Lawrence, Canada), and I couldn't wait to finish. Plus the writing (translated) was clunky. I probably would have abandoned it but it was the only book I had on me during a two hour train journey (and back), after having finished the previous book. That'll teach me - two books are not enough, take three just in case!
