Bigger Than Jesus Book

I could tell just from reading it that this would be a very powerful play to watch. It's also quite funny in places and cleverly written. However, the subject matter just doesn't hit home for me the way I imagine it does for others. I wasn't raised in a religious household -- the closest we ever got was my grandma saying grace for holiday meals with the family -- and am a staunch atheist. I'm not completely ignorant of religious beliefs and practices, either, but the parodying and use of them here just didn't do it for me, on the whole. It's a worthwhile read, and I would especially recommend it to those who are lapsed believers or come from a family where religion played a central role.
