Review # 1 was written on 2019-09-19 00:00:00 Maximilian Kratt I have complicated feelings toward this play. On one hand he starts off brash leaves a bad taste in your mouth throughout, but then on the other hand he never quite goes as far as he maybe should. I expect more from Miller and Brooks. There are excellent moments but the overall experience of reading the play left me disappointed. Maybe it's one you gotta see... |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-10-27 00:00:00 Patrick H Jones I could tell just from reading it that this would be a very powerful play to watch. It's also quite funny in places and cleverly written. However, the subject matter just doesn't hit home for me the way I imagine it does for others. I wasn't raised in a religious household -- the closest we ever got was my grandma saying grace for holiday meals with the family -- and am a staunch atheist. I'm not completely ignorant of religious beliefs and practices, either, but the parodying and use of them here just didn't do it for me, on the whole. It's a worthwhile read, and I would especially recommend it to those who are lapsed believers or come from a family where religion played a central role. |
