Didn't have a category for this book, my first in SPORTS, read because it's the Year of the Woman and Centennial of Suffrage and 48 years after Title IX. Hopeful at the changes since then and heartbreaking to know how hard it was to make those changes happen. One premise is that change is only possible when the father stands up for his daughter, when the father plays sports with his daughter. That persistent gender assumption is worrisome given the author's clear advocacy for women in sports.

I read the book "Crashing the Old Boys' Network" by David F. Salter. This book, in my opinion, was an excellent source that provided large amounts all regarding the Title IX amendment. The part I liked the most in the book was the commentary by different sports icons such as Billie Jean King, Donna Lopiano, Pat Summitt and Chris Berman. In think this book does a great job of exposing the various Title IX controversies at all levels of play (High School, College and Pro). Also, it does a great job of showing the vast differences between some boys sports and some girls sports, for example, how a high school boys basketball team gets brand new uniforms every two years, but the girls basketball program gets new uniforms only every 8 years. In my opinion this was a great book and i would not have a problem reading it again.
