Helpful discussion of the places and purposes of "Confirmation" in both Roman Catholic, Eastern Orthodox, and "Protestant" theology and practice, with consideration of historic and more recent developments.

A manual of any sort is not going to be scintillating reading; that's not the grounds on which you judge. You have to judge it according to its purpose: and the purpose of a liturgical manual is to give instructions on the proper celebration of liturgy. Msgr. Elliott's book does this and does it thoroughly, indicating what is to be done, where there are options (in some cases, where there are not options), and pointing out along the way points where things differ from the pre-conciliar rite, or where it is necessary to turn to it to fill in a lacuna. To someone not interested in the mechanics of liturgy, this book will offer nothing to entertain, but it is a resource that should be available to anyone who DOES have a part in it.
