This is the autobiography of one of the very best Bridge players of all time. It is pretty much a simple, direct story of his life with a lot of Bridge experiences included. He follows a format that was used by Sam Snead where he writes a chapter and then has a lesson at the end of the chapter. What is very interesting is his writing on the formative years of Contract Bridge and how it developed. He also is good at describing how some of the bidding techniques were developed such as the weak 2-bid. The biggest complaint I have is that the book seemed to drone on after awhile and the style did not create much excitement in what might have been some pretty exciting events in major Bridge Championships. However, if want to see how a truly great player thinks while bidding and playing plus learn some history of the game, it is a good source.

A good argument against tracking in schools.
