- a thorough, well-illustrated, easy-to-read history of "how the function of the first human organ was replaced by machine" - much of the biochemistry was beyond my understanding, but the evolution of the general principals was easy to follow - the vast number of contributors along the road, the many desperate patients whose participation in the process (sadly unsuccessful) during the early years - was very moving to read about - J. I have personal experience with kidney failure.and I'm also a doctor! but I did not choose a specialization yet.The pain which I suffer are increasing day by day. There is no chance for a kidney transplant. This book is very important for me.I understand many things about the history of renal failure. WE Studied at the university some of these things, but from standpoint of therapeutic and functional. I've gained some therapeutic ideas after reading this book, and I plan to transfer to the paper by theory. This is not a book for doctors and medical students only.It is a book for anyone with a personal experience or one of his friends with Renal Failure..
