Review # 1 was written on 2008-10-29 00:00:00 Jason Vancleve Gundry's Doctoral Thesis is clear in its aim and achievements, showing that allusions in Matthew are also mixed LXX/non-LXX, and this destroys the notion that the formula citations are a homogenous group. The second element of his thesis defends Matthew's hermeneutic of the OT as being in line jewish expectations, and a non-atomising treatment of OT texts. |
Review # 2 was written on 2017-03-02 00:00:00 Duane Powell This introductory textbook is well-written and easy to understand. My only complaint with it is that it is now into its 11th edition, and several of the seams are showing where different editions have been patched together. |
