This book does a great job at explaining the many environmental issues in our world, covering problems concerning air, water, trash, pollution, and gas. A long time ago systems to keep our environment clean were not in place, but this book does a great job at describing the many systems in place for these "yucky" things. Although we have come a long way over time, new problems continue to arise everyday. Examples of problems talked about in this book include smog, oil spills, and littering. A history lesson is also provided with each chapter, along with ways we can change these problems. Real life photos of these problems are also featured throughout, which would extremely beneficial for students to see. I think this book would be great in any 4-5 classroom, especially those focused on recycling or waste in our environments. Students could each be assigned a chapter and then be assigned to go into further research about the problem and steps they can take to fix it.

This was a book my husband picked up for the kids when I sent them to the library without me. I was hesitant (what mother wouldn't be with a gas mask on the front?), but the kids loved it. We read it cover to cover, which is odd for a non-fiction book and kids under 5.
