Review # 1 was written on 2021-03-23 00:00:00 Charles McLaughlin This refers to the English translation by Dorothy Daudley, originally for the British edition of this book, which came out in 1934 with an additional postcript about Hitler. The translation is pretty bad, but it's worth reading for the analysis of the history of Mussolini by Armando Borghi who was an anarcho-syndicalist radical in Italy who emigrated to the U.S. and became a leader in the Italian American anarchist community. His book about Mussolini seems unusal in the context of other works by radicals of the time, because of the insistence that Mussolini was not just the same as other capitalist reactionaries. The epilogue about Hitler is the most interesting because it contains comparisons between Hitler and Mussolini in order to identify what makes fascism different from other forms of dictatorship. |
