Review # 1 was written on 2015-11-26 00:00:00 Mervin Kreider Excellent combination of guidebook to city's art and architecture with history and personal reminicenses & opinions of Rome occasionally interspersed. It is arranged chronologically in short chapters (usually 3-6 pages) about the major art & architectural works in Rome, beginning with the Forum and ending with the Shrine to the WWII Resistance martyrs. I spent 2 months on this short book, dipping in and out of it, but it is not dry; it is written with charm and style by an art historian. |
