Review # 1 was written on 2018-03-25 00:00:00 George Harangody A Very good overview of the philosophical underpinnings of the legal system. Im totally a dilettante here, so I advise not taking my view too seriously, but I went through this and gained a pretty solid foundation on the deep whys and whats of law. This is a pretty solid reference text. |
Review # 2 was written on 2009-03-04 00:00:00 Margaret Rubright This volume collects a number of important works upon which the Western natural law tradition is based and which attempt to justify the fundamental organization of political and religious authority in the Middle Ages. It covers important topics such as just war theory, begins to articulate a right to resist unjust rulers, and sketches the contours of the "separate spheres" which defined the boundaries of Church and State in Medieval Christendom. Worth reading, if not terribly exciting. |
