Review # 1 was written on 2013-07-04 00:00:00 Yuri Wuensch I thought that this was an entirely satisfying and convincing account of how certain Victorian novels and one Victorian poem--albeit "The Ring and the Book," so a long one--thought about lived/performed speech and how to modulate it. Elegantly-structured, and full of fascinating anecdotes that--better than being merely fascinating--are integrated into accounts of canonical texts. How am I the only reviewer of this book on Goodreads? |
Review # 2 was written on 2013-01-27 00:00:00 Adam Beauchamp This is a book I've not completed, but that I'll refer back to each year as my kids grow. Lots of useful reminders here, and amazing that this knowledge and research was available to us in the 1940s! |
