Review # 1 was written on 2008-12-10 00:00:00 David Lewis Got this for a steal at the close-out racks at Borders, an unbelievable comp of two Taschen Dali books. I don't want to sound cliched but if there's only one Dali book to buy, this is the one. It begins from his student sketches to his cubism period to his surrealist classics and has just about every piece he's ever created, even the infamous Mae West portrait. Lots of pics of the insane great master, too! Bet you didn't know he was the influence behind Caesar Romero's interpretation of The Joker on the Batman TV Show in 1966. |
Review # 2 was written on 2008-09-06 00:00:00 Sebastian Weiner Two volumes of unequaled reference in this format. Taschen has produced another fine work for both the connoisseur and the scholar to add to the reference shelf. Dali's life story without his own unique auto-biographical twists is still an astonishing tale. If you are a student of 20th Century Art, a collector, an educator/librarian, or have any interest casual or professional in Salvador Dali, this is a must addition to the shelves. |
