Review # 1 was written on 2011-03-02 00:00:00 Amanda Clinton I chose this as one of my textbooks in a college course on modern slavery. It is very comprehensive and does good work to explain slavery in our modern context and how we got here. I do wish there was a revised edition, because books like this with lots of stats and numbers can easily become outdated. However, much of the content of this book has not (unfortunately) changed for the better since this book was written. Of the three texts I used in my course, this was the most dense.

Review # 2 was written on 2016-11-25 00:00:00 Richard Jensen A great overview of the issues surrounding global slavery - both labor and sexual exploitation. It's intention is not to anger or provoke an emotional response, but instead offers a rational overview of the issues that lead to the exploitation of people, providing actionable ways to counteract the increasing trend.
