Review # 1 was written on 2010-02-01 00:00:00 Christopher Mcneil An introductory level wavelet book. The author organize it in his own understanding and it basically includes all the elementary mathematical analysis of wavelet. Ch 1,2,3,4,7 gives the details of construct wavelet: compactly supported wavelet, bandlimited wavelet; Ch 5, 6 are more like the application. All the discussion above is based on orthonormal basis while Ch 8 gives the frame case. Ch 9 introduces the algorithms but without applications. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-04-27 00:00:00 Scott Jones This is a fantastic book for people that are looking for a wonderfully written book about wavelets. No way I would recommend this to someone that does not have a background in the field but if one does, this is a gem. I wish there were more books like this; mathematics needs to be more accessible. And the question is, why isn't it??? This is a mathematically precise book, written by an English major. Why is there not more of this? Congrats to the author and thank you for such a work. I wish you could do this for more advanced concepts. |
