Review # 1 was written on 2013-02-19 00:00:00 Marc Tustin I took Amemiya's advanced econometrics class in graduate school and I cannot imagine a better introduction to graduate econometrics. The book reflects Amemiya's brilliance; topics are presented lucidly and logically. However, this book requires some mathematical background -- real analysis and linear algebra -- and is not a good first text in econometrics. Overall, I highly recommend it for people who want to learn how to think like an econometrician. It is absolutely essential for practicing econometricians.

Review # 2 was written on 2016-10-26 00:00:00 Andrew Whillans I have found this book to great at teaching many of the mathematical tools needed for the economics, especially the many different optimisation problems with multivariabel calculus and linear algebra. Though i would have liked the linear algebra section to include that of the first book more in depth rather than a brief review (Essential Mathematics for Economic Analysis). It could also at times feel very difficult due to the mathematical rigour. It has many problems/excercises that are of economic nature and of a practical nature to solve and learn. All in all this book has been a great learning experience.
