Review # 1 was written on 2014-03-08 00:00:00 Lew Doobay I enjoyed this. It is a very concise and clear treatment, with enough detail to follow the main ideas without getting lost. There were many places where I didn't know enough to fill in all the steps myself but it didn't detract from the development. The references are good. My only problem is that, like many math books, it doesn't answer the "who cares?" question. One needs to already be an expert to be able to justify trying to read the book. The applications sections are thin and don't give a sense for what advantages over other techniques MC brings to the table. (I didn't understand the financial analysis section at all, but that's my problem.) Given the recent interest in Wiener chaos in numerical analysis, I think there's a lot of opportunity for a Volume 2. |
