Review # 1 was written on 2019-11-17 00:00:00 Damion Dunlap Written with context to the National Building Code of Canada, “Elements of Earthquake Engineering and Structural Dynamics” efficiently presents the concepts of earthquake dynamics and ductility design. I appreciated the fast pace and breadth of the structural dynamics chapter. When compared to Anil Chopra’s guidebook, the information is appropriately scaled down for better transition to the more practical aspects of structural design. The limited scale does leave a lot of the differential equations and linear algebra open ended. The presentation choice is appropriate given that most modern structural dynamic design is carried out with complete software programs. |
