Review # 1 was written on 2017-06-08 00:00:00 Steven Johnson The General Contributions section is longer than in the first volume, with four articles totaling more than a hundred pages. The one I found most interesting was one about "invisible agent constructions," a kind of passive where expressing the agent is not optional but actually ungrammatical. They're well known to Japanese linguists, but the article identifies them in a wide range of Indic and Dravidian languages too. The Special Contributions (themed controversy) section has only two long articles on the verbs of subordinate clauses in the Dravidian family. In many modern Dravidian languages, only one verb per sentence can be finite except for a well-defined and limited set of subordinating constructions; the disagreement is whether more paratactic constructions were possible in ancient Dravidian languages and Proto-Dravidian or whether they only exist in some modern languages and come from Indo-European influence. The Dialogue section has replies to articles from the previous volume on Bengali nominal syntax and the status of Indian English.

Review # 2 was written on 2012-06-17 00:00:00 John G. Mullen A variety of research tossed together. Sort of like listening to some eccentric college professor that is just over excited about stuff he read or found out about...and wants to go back to double check some things.. but regardless...it is just so cool to them. Yeap... that is what I think. Of course, with all thing one reads...if it is claimed as fact... verify as possible.
