This book was simply wonderful. Many hours of research were poured into this book and it shows. S A Akintoye completely rejects the Egyptian origins of the Yoruba. He makes it clear that the Yoruba people created their culture on Yoruban soil. This may be a history book but it is never dry. I feel like I know how it must have felt to be alive during the reign of Oduduwa. He was a truly fascinating man. I was unaware of how the Yoruba people were an integral part of the resistance against the European colonialists and many of the soldiers who fought to make Hati free from the French were Yoruba.
