A junior engineer at financial firm Sledd Payne notices a discrepancy of a few dollars in the healthcare premium on his paycheck. This innocuous moment sets off a chain of events that threatens to bring down the mammoth finance institution that employs thousands and manages tens of billions in assets. Sledd Payne's power-hungry founders and top executives then engage in a violent battle to protect their reputations, families and fortunes. The rarefied world of these warring corporate titans is told with unrelenting authority by author Andie Ryan, taking the reader deep into a complicated cover-up. The author skillfully and brilliantly reveals the complex and primitive forces that shape one of these larger-than-life players into an unlikely hero and corrupts others beyond redemption. SHAKEDOWN's characters race towards a conclusion where no one remains unscathed. With the company they built crumbling, family tensions seethe and boil, creating paths to both heartbreak and sullied atonement where secrets, guilt and remorse are cleansed only in spilled blood and the draining of billions in wealth. A brutally engaging thriller!
