Review # 1 was written on 2008-12-11 00:00:00 Ken Helm This could easily serve as a supplemental textbook in science and environmental classes for children. This book is divided into two parts: Understanding Our World and The Problems the Environment Faces. Each chapter is about 10 pages in length and includes hands-on experiments and realistically achievable projects that directly relate to the material covered in that particular chapter. The supply list for the projects is not listed first, which would be helpful before reading the instructions. There are great analogies to help children better understand some of the concepts such as the balance needed in the environment compared to kids on a seesaw. The author also makes this information relevant to children by describing the Earth's water cycle and pointing out that the water we drink could be the same water a T-Rex drank. The book itself is printed on post-consumer recycled paper, and is in varying shades of gray. Not flashy, but very informative and age appropriate. |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-04-01 00:00:00 tyler norton This is a good book for kids who need extra help trying to understand certain concepts that may not be so easy to understand in their textbook. Each section is separated into two sections. One section have a brief overview of the concepts and highlights key words that are important to understand for the idea. The second section is an experiment that students can use so they can apply what they learned in the first section. It's a very easy book to use and with easy instructions. |
