Review # 1 was written on 2018-02-13 00:00:00 Douglas Begland Beautiful photographs and excellent excerpts that capture the many tactile, sensual and emotional shifts you encounter while riding, or contemplating riding. I didn't know what to expect from this book when I got it, but I am really glad I did. It is a lovely coffeetable book and great conversation starter. Get it, you won't regret it! The back cover has my favorite Goethe quote: "Let me remark that the most lively and exquisite delights are like horses racing past, the experience of an instant only, which leaves scarcely a trace on our soul; that liberty and equality can be enjoyed only in the intoxication of madness, and desire reaches its highest pitch of excitement only in the presence of danger and the voluptuous half sweet, half uneasy sensations which it arouses." |
Review # 2 was written on 2015-01-14 00:00:00 Geoffrey Stone There are some great stories in here, but I, like most people who would likely pick this up, had read most of them already (it was a gift). That said, I do like having it around in case some unsuspecting soul wanders into my life needing an elementary introduction to satire. Hey, it could happen. ;) |
