Review # 1 was written on 2012-12-22 00:00:00 Michitaka Hanibuchi Disclaimer: I'm from Texas. I've got opinions about chili. The presence of chili powder does not make stew into chili. There are lots of great recipes here. I wouldn't call most if them chili, but that doesn't mean they aren't worthwhile. Bar Abilene needs to get the black beans out of its, um, stew if it wants to have any credible pretensions to Texanness. 1) No beans, 2) black beans are a Southwestern thing, not a Texas thing. If you must have beans, they should be red. Also, if the Cosmos Cafe in Houston says that its green chile soup is soup, don't call it chili. They know what they're talking about; don't be patronizing. Maryland and D.C. are Southern? They're practically New York! |
