Review # 1 was written on 2010-09-27 00:00:00 Norma Hudson This book is an informative and entertaining look at how the Clark County school system has grown over 100 years in a tiny dusty desert settlement to the largest school system in country in the fastest growing mega resort city in the USA. And, how that growth has both hurt and helped students. Add to this unceasing climate of change, that it is a tourist mecca driven by a gambling industry, and hosts a somewhat transient population—that the hardy souls who stay and call Las Vegas home — it's a story that is unique in all of our country. Wonderful historical pictures, a colorful visual treat in what could have been a dull, dry history — and isn't. Las Vegas fascinates, and that children grow up, learn and thrive there is also a fascinating story. |
