I love that this book doesn't condescend or try to guilt dog owners for not doting on their dogs 24/7 as many other dog care books I've read do. Instead, it gives practical advice, while also ensuring that having a dog is right for the person. It doesn't deliver anything particularly unusual, because dogs do need attention and love and entertainment, but it takes a more realistic approach.
