Review # 1 was written on 2010-05-05 00:00:00 Philippe Lavallee Most chess books aren't good bedtime reading whereas this one is. Each page or so is taken up with a chess saying (I'm remembering this badly because the book's upstairs and I'm downstairs: "Whoever has the initiative *must* attack or risk losing it") with a pithy example with a diagram. Not for novices but very enjoyable for crap club players (like me). |
Review # 2 was written on 2012-05-20 00:00:00 John Wappler This is a collection of nearly 300 old chess sayings, rules of thumb, and other guidelines. A decent description and illustrative example accompany each entry. A great little bedside reader for the enthusiast. |
