Review # 1 was written on 2014-03-12 00:00:00 Brandi Boudoin It is a must-have for people interested in the crime of burglary. Firstly, because it is clearly and interestingly presented, and secondly, because there are not many burglary books available. Burglary by Rob Mawby has been a tremendous help for me when I was writing my dissertation (Criminology BCs) on the perceptions of burglary. Most of the research on burglary is victim and prevention oriented, whereas this book covers it all: legislation, victims, burglars, police responses, detection, punishment and prevention. The style of writing is very clear and easily understandable. The book is well-researched, although some of the information may appear outdated as the book was published in 2001 (especially Home Office reviews). Nevertheless, the book is a good source of further references. |
