Review # 1 was written on 2020-04-01 00:00:00 rod collicott Some pretty pictures and some interesting tidbits of info, but mostly this felt disjointed and somewhat random and incomplete. Sure, all the pieces have a common theme of libraries, but why were these particular pieces chosen over all the other ones that could have been? For example, the section on "The Public Library" covers two different Carnegie Libraries, both in Canada. How about non-Carnegie libraries? Or public libraries in other parts of the world? It felt like this was pulled together from what photos and pieces of writing were most readily available, rather than as a result of trying to present a coherent narrative or thoroughly exploring a well-defined question.

Review # 2 was written on 2015-09-17 00:00:00 Judith Doop Everything in here is short short short, so this is a good one for picking up when you've got limited reading time. The Manguel and Bradbury essays were my favorite - Manguel's is excerpted from The Library At Night, which is excellent. Also included are interesting interviews with library architects, pictures of libraries around the world, and other articles and bits of library-related art, ephemera, and stories. Overall this was enjoyable but I have to say I kind of rolled my eyes when I got to the Second Life article/interview at the end.
