Review # 1 was written on 2016-01-12 00:00:00 Jean Lechasseur Excellent book, covering the history of chess in the 20th century. A couple pages for each year provides the scores of two or three interesting games from the year and outlines significant events, tournaments, and top players. To top it off, major world events -- political, scientific, etc -- are noted to provide context for the chess related ones. Succinctly written, continually interesting, it's well worth reading. |
Review # 2 was written on 2014-05-10 00:00:00 Jeff Killey Read Lasker's Manual of Chess to understand this book and its importance. |
