Review # 1 was written on 2017-08-04 00:00:00 Tasha Brobyn This book presents brief historical tidbits about the island and land around the st Mary's river. while in some ways it made sense to divide the book as it did, by island, it also made for some repetition of info. I found that disappointing because I know how much was not even mentioned.

Review # 2 was written on 2011-09-21 00:00:00 AMEEN Ahmad We went to Ocracoke for our honeymoon, went back for our 5th anniversary, and I read this in preparation for our imminent trip back for our 10th! This book is over 20 years old, with some updates; but the core of the book is a history and a number of 1st person accounts, which don't go out of date. The interviews of various residents give a very good picture of the island and its issues. A special place for us!
