By examining the ways that animals interact with others and their environment, we can glean lessons and insights that can enhance our own personal growth and spiritual journeys. For example, Diana Guererro shows us how animals can teach us about making time to play, using our own intuitive gifts, embracing change positively, adapting to the environment, and moving through fear into appreciation. Although the book does not allow for an in-depth exploration of any of these individual topics, it does bring our attention to specific animals that can help us to develop the qualities and awareness that we seek, and provides a good starting point for our own exploration. Diana does not discuss the concept of animal totems or power animals, but the premise is the same that we can learn lessons and gain insight about ourselves through studying and interacting with animals.

They show no judgement, they honor us, they recognize the need for play and rest in this busy world. Every species on this planet serves a superior function and we need to respect that.
